In select cases, we can remove a failing tooth, place an implant, and attach a fixed, natural-looking temporary — all in a single appointment. No denture, no gap, no months of hiding your smile. It's not always possible, but when it is, it's the closest modern dentistry gets to a miracle.
Traditional implant treatment means extracting the failing tooth, waiting 3–4 months for the socket to heal, then coming back for implant surgery, then waiting another 3–4 months for the implant to fuse, then finally a crown. Six months, four or five appointments, and a gap in your smile the whole time.
Same-day implants — sometimes called "immediate implants" or "teeth in a day" — compress the first two steps. The tooth is removed, the implant is placed into the fresh socket, and a fixed provisional crown is attached. You walk out with a full smile the same afternoon you walked in.
Not every tooth qualifies. Infection, inadequate bone, or poor positioning can rule it out. But for the cases that do qualify, it's the most patient-friendly path in modern implantology.
The difference between a candidate and a non-candidate comes down to bone, position, and infection. Here's what we look for at consultation.
We need enough bone around the socket to achieve primary stability — the implant has to lock in place at the moment of placement. Assessed on CBCT.
Active infection at the root can compromise implant integration. Some infections we can clean and proceed; others require extraction first and waiting 2–3 months.
Front teeth and premolars are most commonly candidates. Back molars with wide roots are harder — we often plan these as traditional staged cases instead.
From the time you walk in to the time you walk out with a new tooth, expect 2 to 3 hours. Here's the sequence.
Fresh CBCT if needed, local anesthesia, and a final confirmation of the surgical plan.
The failing tooth is removed using techniques that preserve the bone socket — critical for implant success.
The implant is placed into the fresh socket with XNav navigation or a surgical guide. Bone graft material fills any gaps.
A temporary crown is milled or printed in-house and attached to the implant. Not in function (no chewing), but visible and aesthetic.
After the implant has fused, we replace the provisional with a permanent, full-function crown designed and milled in our lab.
Same-day implant treatment is priced as a complete package — extraction, implant, bone graft if needed, provisional crown, and final crown are all included. No surprise line items.
